Reflecting on the Pandemic (Fear Not)

I remember when it all started in a small region

It seemed trivial

It seemed like something that wold phase out soon.

I remember the Holy Spirit nudging me to pray about it

He most definitely nudged many other christians to pray too

I hope they did because I did not.

I did not and I am so sorry

I did not start to pray till it hit close to home

Perhaps if I had prayed along with many other saints in the world,

It would not have spread so fast

But now it has, what shall we do ?

I have thought about many things as things unfold, I have directed many questions towards God. It seems so surreal that the whole world will be going through such a great challenge at the same time.

Although my questions and thoughts are still unanswered, it does not change that God remains the “I am” He remains the very same God who saved His children in the past with His outstretched arms, He is the same God who has kept your going out and coming in, He is still same God that will keep you and I through this pandemic in Jesus name.

But then it is not enough to say these things like- The Lord is my protector, He is my shepherd and so on. We need to really mean it and act like it!

There are so many broadcast messages going round, news headlines spurring every minute that do not exactly encourage us to trust in God or put our hope in Him. But more than ever,

this is a period to run into the strong tower of the Lord and remain there.

Proverbs 18:10

How can we remain in the strong tower of the Lord?

Do not give fear a chance! God has not given us the spirit of fear but the spirit of love, sound mind and power- II Timothy 1:7. It is my understanding that spirits are always looking for human bodies to find expression and the spirit of fear is not an exception and so are the spirits of love, power and sound mind which God gives. But we humans are responsible for the kind of spirits we allow to find expressions in our lives, the spirit of fear only needs one foot at the door and then it brings it with all other spirits that ravage the human mind

Moreso, it displeases God when His children allow fear to have control over their lives. It is saying to God that you do not trust Him enough and the bible even tells us that without faith we cannot please the Lord- Hebrew 11:6

I listened to this sermon by Apostle Joshua Selma on fear and it brought more insight on the spirit of fear and the spirit that God gives us. You should listen to it here too.

In essence, I am writing to you to meditate on the word of the Lord that says- He has not given us the spirit of fear but of love, sound mind and power.- II Timothy 1:7. It is probably easier said than done but it is achievable: read the bible and ask the Holy spirit to illuminate your mind as you study, you can also listen to sermons that help build up your faith in Christ and this brings me to the next ting you can do during this phase of our lives

Worship, do not complain nor fret! I really cannot start to explain how worship teleports me to another realm, it is always as if I have no worries. This gift from God, I am so so thankful for. But yeah! You can also engage in beautiful worship of the Lord in different styles.

This week I was reminded of the Israelites when they got to the wilderness and it seemed like God had left them and they started to complain. This act of theirs angered God and He said to Moses, “Have they quickly forgotten how I saved them from Pharaoh and his cohort?” ,

“Has my arm lost it’s power?”- said the Lord to Moses.

Now you will see whether or not my word comes true!”

Numbers 11:23

Of course not! God’s arm has never lost it’s power, and it will never! Therefore, in the light of this, let us worship Him for who is, “I am that I am”

Here, here and here are links , to my worship playlists, perhaps you may find it helpful.

Pray without Ceasing: This is what I should have been doing from the very start, it is still what I need to do now that it is here and it is what I should still keep doing once it is gone and so should you.

I’d like to add that we need to maintain lives that please God, we should live in holiness because holiness is next to Godliness and only he/she with clean hands and a pure heart can ascend into the holy place of the Lord. – Psalm 24:3-4

Moreso, only the righteous is saved in the strong tower of the Lord- Proverbs 18:10. Jesus Christ is our righteousness in Christ Jesus, so if you are not friends with Jesus yet. You should become friends with Him by saying this prayer here.

P.S these acts of faith and trust in God does not mean we should throw caution to the wind. Nevertheless, we should practice good hygiene, try to stay safe as much as we can.

With all the above said and done, we can be rest assure that it will end in praise in Jesus name.
