How to Keep Using the Gift of Worship

Worship!!!!

The exclamation marks I have behind that word above does no justice to how powerful that word is. Worship for me over the years has evolved, it probably will still keep evolving because it is a gift powered by the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit is so dynamic!

I pray that the Holy Spirit helps me to do justice to this subject matter,I pray that He Helps me to communicate to you what exactly He wants me to communicate to you as you read. And ultimately I pray that He Himself will open your eyes to see what He needs you to see and understand what He wants you to understand in Jesus name.

As I write this blog post, I am reminded of this preacher, – Anna Werner who says that when she is faced with a challenge and she starts to worship, she could burst into laughter. How does one faced with a challenge burst into laughter? It is the presence of God brought down through worship from clean lips and a pure heart.

What is Worship?

Worship means to push all your worries to the very rear and fix your focus on God who was there before any form of challenge presented it’s self, who is still here in the face of any challenge and who will always be here at the end of any challenge. He has seen it all

Worship used to be for me a session in Church where I sang songs that were God-themed and danced to these songs. Lord! do I love to dance! And when it was God-themed song, it was justifiable for me to dance away! Which isn’t exactly a bad thing.

But to worship with understanding is of great benefit to mankind. Words fail me to describe how powerful and amazing worship is.

Worship is an intimate relationship between you and God. It is an intimate interaction between God and His children.

Worship is a moment of beautiful exchange between you and God; you whispering, saying beautiful words to your lover, friend, father, best friend and Him pouring Himself all on you.

Worship is pouring out your love for God and He pouring His on you.

Worship is a moment of renewal: renewal of your relationship with God, renewal of your commitment with God, renewal of your love for Him.

Worship is accessing the throne of God in heaven from our earthly abode.

this does not necessarily have to be in a church, it can be in your bedroom.

Worship is a Gift from God:When Jesus Christ ascended into heaven and gave us the Holy Spirit as a gift. He gave us the gift of worship as well because to truly worship God is to worship Him in Spirit and in truth .

This did not make sense to me until recently when I had a conversation with a friend who was struggling in the place of worship. I just assumed worship was something that came naturally to every believer.

Moreover, there are times when we are faced with so great a challenge, it may be too difficult to even open our mouths to say a word to God.

Worship truly is a gift from God. To be able to worship Him day and night regardless of what we may be faced with, is an amazing gift.

How Can We receive this gift of Worship and Put it to good use ?

Accept Jesus as your friend This is for you my dear friend who has not said yes to the proposal of Jesus to you! He wants to be your friend, He wants to be your everything, provider, lover, friend, shrink, EVERYTHING you may desire. Just say yes to Him, He has been these and more to me for the past four years! You could say the prayers here to accept His proposal. God bless you as you do so!

Ask for the Gift of the Holy Spirit : The gift of the Holy Spirit is promised to us who believe in Jesus Christ and accept Him into our lives. God knows that we cannot serve or worship Him by our own strength so He gave us His spirit who helps us in our weakness to stay connected to God.

Jesus told the Samaritan woman He met at the well that a time will come when it did not matter where we worship from. What will matter is that we worship the King of Kings truthfully and from the depths of our spirit because God is a spirit. John 4:21-24

The gift of the Holy Spirit is promised to us but we need to ask God, so He knows you want it. God is faithful to give His Holy Spirit to as many of us who desire and want Him.

Meditate on His Loving kindness : Oh! The Lord is good, His mercies and love for you and I is forever! The whole world and the things He created for us to make life easy and beautiful speaks of His love and care for us! The Bible is filled of His love for us, it is unending! You know how you keep going back to that beautiful text you got from that friend of yours and smile to yourself every time? Go back to the texts in the bible and meditate on how much God loves you and smile! He loves you so so much!

Meditating on His love and how good He has been to you in the past can spur you into worship of His name and goodness. We see the children of God meditating on how good God has been to them and they break into praising the Lord- Psalm 48:9

Seek The Lord in Worship (Deuteronomy 12:4-5)– Like I said earlier, worship for me was to sing and dance, but worship is more than that! Everytime a believer worships God, it stirs Him in His throne, He comes down in His glory! So it is important to be sensitive, pay attention to what He might be saying to us in times of worship.

Everytime a believer worships the Lord in spirit and truth, the believer sees and experiences the Lord in beauty and glory. And there is absolutely no way a believer will see the Lord and not want to keep worshipping Him.

God is beyond beautiful!

Live Right– Psalm 15:1-5 gives us clear and concise list of the kind of life we must live to keep accessing the presence of God. As believers who want to keep beholding and experiencing the beauty of God in worship, we must :

  • Speak the truth from sincere hearts at all times
  • Refuse to gossip or speak evil of our friends
  • Keep our promises always
  • Honor those who love God
  • Not accept or take bribe
  • Ensure our hearts and hands are clean always – Psalm 24:4

May the Holy Spirit keep helping us to worship the Lord our God in Spirit and in Truth in Jesus name.
