How to Know the depth, width of God’s love & His fullness – Ephesians 3:19

It is interesting that I do not exactly remember what time of the day it was; either it was morning or evening as I read my bible during the week. But I remember how I felt, It felt like I was reading a love letter from my lover for the first time yet again. Although I am well aware of God’s endless for me, I became aware of some depths and widths of God’s love for me yet again. It was a wholesome moment for me,

And as I pondered upon the portion of scripture that shined this light of God’s love upon me, I thought about people who may be in the dark about God’s love for them. And at that moment, I hoped that everyone on earth is able to experience this beautifully overwhelming love that I experience with my father. As I write to you today, I hope that you live in the reality of God’s love for you.

I sense that Apostle had the same yearning if not more as he wrote to the church in Ephesus from prison. A man bound, tied up in chains, and in physical pain did not lose touch with God’s love for Him. Regardless of the physical discomfort that Apostle Paul was in, He was fully aware of God’s love for Him, He was aware of the things God was working out through His life. And this knowing spilled out in His writings to the church of God.

Reading through Ephesians chapter three, it sheds so much light on how much God loves us, it also draws our attention to the fact that as humans we may quickly shift our focus from God’s love and begin to dwell on the fleeting happenings around us. Apostle Paul was the one faced with tribulations yet he took his time to encourage the church with his letter. He said in Ephesians 3:13 – “do not lose heart at my tribulations for you, which is my glory” What manner of awareness is this!!! He was so aware that in the midst of his tribulations, he was bringing God glory, and God’s love for him never changed. He went ahead to say in his letter to the church about the ways and things he prayed about for them. In his prayer for the church, we can see the parts we should play to live in the continuous awareness of God’s love.

God’s love for us is set in stone, unshakeable, unmovable but the depth of our knowledge of it – we have some role to play in it.

What are these roles like?

Encourage yourself in the Lord, do not lose heart. – This is what apostle Paul started with, a word of encouragement for the church he wrote to. His word of encouragement was sent first to recalibrate their hearts back to the father. Therefore dear friend, the moment the slight thought of doubt sets into your mind, place a hand to your chest and confess – “God so loved me that He gave His only son to save me”.

Pray: Once your heart is recalibrated to the father, go on your knees or wherever you can to pray. Pray about how you feel in the moment and ask God to shed his love abroad in your heart. As you pray to Him, pray with faith and confidence that He will do just as you ask of Him

Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit: The best gift to mankind is the Holy Spirit just after salvation was made available to us by Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit does a lot of work in us, He helps to magnify God’s intent for our lives to us, and He helps us to comprehend the fullness of God’s love, plan, and reality for our lives. Oh! only if we all asked received and engaged the Holy Spirit daily, then we would walk in the fullness of God’s love for our lives. Just as Apostle Paul prayed in Ephesians 3:16-17 – I pray that you are strengthened by the power of the Holy Spirit to give room for Jesus Christ to dwell inside of you and stay rooted in God’s love for you.

Become rooted in God’s word: As apostle Paul neared the end of his letter to the church in Ephesus, I think it is noteworthy that He writes about his prayer for the church to be rooted & grounded in love, then they may comprehend like every other saint the width, length, depth, and height of God’s love. How may one stay rooted and grounded in love, you may ask. Let me start by stating this premise – the word(bible) is God and God is love, therefore, to be rooted in love is to stay with God’s word which is love.

And to my dear friend who is still in the dark about God’s love. come into the light, my dear. Nobody in this world can love or love you the way God loves you. He is beckoning you to surrender to Him, let Him come dwell in your heart. Allow Him to take you on the best love journey you will ever have in this life. To start off on that journey, say the prayers here. Don’t stop there, prayerfully find a fellowship of children of God, so you can grow in faith. Do not hesitate to write to me with any questions that you may have

In the name of Jesus, I decree that you experience God’s love anew every day.

Amen
