The Difference Between Salvation and Deliverance- Obadiah 1:17

I have been looking for the right moment to share with you some revelation and insight I got about deliverance. It was at the Battle Axe Retreat organized by pastor Lawrence Oyor in the United Kingdom. Although I did not participate in all of the sessions, I was blessed at the only session I joined. This particular session had Reverend Fortune Oyor minister to all participants about deliverance. The scripture focus was John 11, it blew my mind the things she shared from the scripture – things I had not seen before.

Apostle John shares with us in his account the death of Lazarus who had been a good friend of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ heard about his sickness yet waited two days to see him. This is one of the chapters in the bible that shows us the humanity of Jesus Christ because as soon as Jesus saw and heard Mary’s (Lazarus’s sister) countenance, He groaned in His Spirit and was troubled – John 11:33. And then He wept – John 11:35.

Jesus Christ proceeded to the tomb and asked for the stone at the tomb to be rolled away. Then He gave thanks to His Father in heaven, and called Lazarus forth from the grave! Now this is the part many of us do not exactly pay attention to, the miracle did not stop there. The Bible says that the one who was dead came out bound hand and foot with grave clothes and his face was wrapped with a cloth – John 11:44. As soon as Lazarus came back to life, Jesus spoke to the grave clothes that wrapped Lazarus up, “Loose Him and Let Him go” – John 11:44.

O! I pray the Lord Himself opens your understanding as I transition to this next part. So you see the part where Jesus Christ called Lazarus forth from death, from the grave that could be likened to our salvation, our redemption from eternal death. I also find it profound that Jesus points us to the fact that He is the resurrection and life and whoever believes in Him though dead shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Him shall never die – John 11:25. And the next phase of the miracle was deliverance, the part where Jesus Christ commanded the grave clothes loose from Lazarus’ body – that there is deliverance.

Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians chapter two about their people who were once dead in sin, this is the story of all of us who have been made alive by the power of Jesus Christ. These new lives we now live we live by the power of Jesus Christ. But it is salient to understand that when we were dead to sin, we were covered by graveclothes spiritually just like Lazarus. Hence, we all need to be let loose at the command of the Lord Jesus Christ. As I pondered on this revelation for the longest time, the Lord also brought to my mind an illustration. The illustration of a newborn baby who had stayed in his/her mother’s womb for so long. Once the baby is pushed out of the womb which could also symbolize a new birth, the baby has to be cleaned up. The cleanup of the baby from all the stains and specks of dirt on its body could also be likened to the deliverance.

So to sum it up, salvation occurs when we receive the life of Jesus Christ and we begin to live for Him, by Him, and to the Glory of God. It means to be awakened from a dead state of insensitivity to the voice and workings of the Lord. While deliverance means to wash off the dirt, the repercussions of our sinful living with the blood of Jesus Christ. it also means to be set loose from all grave clothes that may have wrapped us up while we lived in sin.

I was finally propelled to share this blog post with you today because of a video I began to watch yesterday. The video is that of an ex-satanist who has been saved and lives for the Lord. I am not done watching the 3-hour video but something profound he said and I think the whole world should know and I quote him,” Salvation is free but deliverance requires sacrifice”. He mentioned how his salvation was almost instant but his deliverance and healing took about ten years of consecration and prayers.

Beloved, deliverance doesn’t always mean casting out of demons. Sometimes, it may mean being set free from some childhood trauma or trauma from an event in your life, and so on. It means to be set free from the stronghold the enemy may have in your life because of a sinful past. I am not a deliverance minister but if you have the nudge or leading to speak to someone about your deliverance, I highly recommend any Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries branch near you. This is a church well known for its expertise in Deliverance ministry and I also attend a branch as well. You may also buy any of the deliverance books by the General overseer – Dr. D.K Olukoya and you may also write to me, I will be more than happy to connect you with a branch to the best of my ability. I also recommend watching videos from Derek Prince about deliverance

Shalom to us all in Jesus name,

Amen
