How To See And God’s Kingdom(John 3:5)

My Jesus did so many signs and wonders while He was here on earth. As much as these miracles liberated lives, brought joy, peace and harmony to souls, they also left so many people in awe and wonder what manner of man Jesus Christ was. As time went on and as Jesus spent time with people, they began to believe in Him and many publicly declared that He was the messiah, while some refused to believe and others declared His kingship in the secret. One of those men who decided to declare Jesus’ authority in secret was Nicodemus.

Nicodemus was a wealthy Jew and teacher of the law of Moses, it was unheard of for a man of his calibre to exchange words with Jesus Christ who claimed to be the son of God. But Nicodemus could not get over all the signs and wonders he had seen Jesus do. He absolutely believed in Jesus Christ but he could not openly declare it. So he went to visit Jesus in the evening of one a fateful day, from the way it was described in the bible – it must have been pitch black/dark by the time Nicodemus went to see Jesus. Perhaps afraid of what people may say or think if he was seen with Jesus Christ, he went at that time of the day.

Nonetheless, the core of this post will focus on the things Jesus Christ said to Nicodemus as he gushed out praises on Jesus.

Nicodemus:”Rabbi,”. “we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you”

Jesus:”I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the kingdom of God”

I somewhat think that Jesus could have responded in many other ways but He chose to point out something salient to Nicodemus and every one who reads this portion of the bible. Moreso, it is safe to inferr that Jesus Christ was telling Nicomdemus that there is so much more to see in God’s kingdom. The miracles and signs and wonders that he was so excited about is nothing compared to the things that await him and everyone who chooses to see God’s kingdom.

Given this inference, Jesus went ahead to tell Nicodemus that the only way he or anyone could truly see God’s kingdom was for one to be born again. – John 3:3. What does it mean to be born again, asked Nicodemus. “To be born again means to be reborn by the spirit of God”, explained Jesus Chirst. In my own words, it means to give yourself to a rejuvenated live through the Holy Spirit. It means to intentionally do away with the sinful nature while giving room for the full of expression of the Holy Spirit through one’s body.

How does this make sense, you may ask. I’d like to point out to you that God is a spirit, if we must worship Him, if we must see Him we must worship Him in Spirit and in truth. Worshipping Him starts with knowing Him and His essence and the only way to do that is to be born again by His spirit. In the course of worshipping Him in spirit and truth, we get to see Him, see His kingdom come and eventually enter His kingdom and the end of time.

My dear, I would leave you with Jesus’ word to Nicodemus in John 3:5unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. First Jesus speaks about seeing God’s kingdom, then He speaks about entering it. He definitely wants you and I to not only see God’s kingdom but also enter into God’s kingdom. And the only means to that end is to be born again by the spirit of God. If for anything, amongst many others, a motivation for you and I to strive to see and enter God’s kingdom should probably be the fact that there will be no more weeping, neither sorrow, no more death or pain for it will all be wiped away in God’s kingdom – Revelation 21:4.

Dear friend if you have wandered off from God’s kingdom, please come back and if you have no idea what it is like in God’s kingdom- I invite you to come join me on this side of life. You can say the prayers here, then proceed to find a great chrisitan church in your nighbourhood.

And to you dear friend who is already walking with Jesus and looking forward to seeing God’s kingdom, may we celebrate together in His kingdom in Jesus name. Nothing will snatch us away from God’s presence in Jesus name.
