How the Spirit of God Makes the Difference in Man

Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath or spirit of life, and man became a living being

Genesis 2:7

Let us do some imagining together, shall we? Imagine that during creation, God had stopped at the point where He made man from the dust of the ground. Man would have been somewhat like a statue or worse off, dead!. Man would have been beautiful to behold yet lifeless and expressionless. But God did something that makes the difference in every man’s life – God shared His breath with man. This breath of God inside of every man is the difference in every man that God has created. It is His breath inside of us that gives us and helps us to find beautiful expressions.

Thanks to the breath of God inside of man (man and woman inclusive), we are able to procreate and fill the earth with boys and girls that look just like God. This way, the earth isn’t void of men with the breath of God. At this point, It is great to note that the breath of God can interchangeably be referred to as the spirit of God. With that said, the spirit of God inside a man gives him life. Elihu who was Job’s friend confessed this as well. He said, “The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.”Job 33:4.

Our good God who is intentional about everything definitely gave us His breath for a purpose, He did not just share His breath with us just for the fun of it. One of the principal reasons if not the most important reason He gave us His breath is for easy communication. Our living God is a spirit and for us to communicate with Him effectively we can only do so through His Spirit inside of us. And through this seamless communication between the spirit of man and God, man is able to fully express dominion on the earth as God planned it to be from the beginning.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.-

Genesis 1:26

The key word in my above statement is communication, for as long as Adam and Eve stayed in communion with the father, they had dominion in Eden. The bible tells us how Adam named all the animals in the garden. Whatever name he called them, so it was- Genesis 2:19. So what happens when a man ceases to commune with God through His Spirit inside of Him? The man loses the dominion and authority that God has designed him to have. A close look at men and women of God who have communion with the father and allowed themselves to be led by the spirit always expressed dominion in their generation. Men like Abraham who was led by the spirit of God left his father’s house to live in abundance, Noah who was led by the Spirit of God built a gigantic ark in his generation that saved him and his family from the flood that destroyed the world. Moses through his communion with God and the leading of the spirit of God expressed dominion in so many ways in his lifetime, he led thousands of people by foot into their deliverance. Moses was a man who stood out in his generation, and the difference in his life was his communion with God. Before Moses started to commune with God, Moses was fearful, and lived with low self-esteem, although passionate about the deliverance of his clan but unsure of how to help them. But then his spirit became rejuvenated by the power of God and he began to commune with the father – that marked the difference in his life.

As I wrap up, let me show you what difference communion with God through His Spirit inside of a man can do. Open your bible to Exodus 3:1-11, 4:10, apparently, God had designed for Moses to lead the Israelites into freedom from bondage in Egypt. Moses had the inert passion to do it but something was just missing for him to execute the deliverance. God met with him supernaturally to tell him about it but instead of jumping at the opportunity to express God’s power on earth, Moses expressed doubts. He said to God, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled”. It is so beautiful to see that this same man that expressed timidity, fears, and doubts to the Lord is the same man who the bible describes as one who performed terrifying acts in the sight of IsraelDeuteronomy 34:12. The difference in his life was his rejuvenated spirit and constant communion with God. Deuteronomy 34:10 tells us that there has not been a prophet in the whole of Israel who knew God face to face; Moses spent days with God in solitude just communing with Him and basking in His presence.

So, my dear, I hope that you see that your Spirit alive in Christ makes so much difference for you and for the world around you. You would definitely become the best version of yourself, the very man or woman God made you. How do you resuscitate your spirit, you may ask? You must first believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, and accept Him into your life by saying this prayer here. Once you do that, I recommend that you

  • find a great bible believing church near you,
  • go through foundation class or new believer’s class,
  • become baptized, be baptized in the Holy Ghost,
  • and be intentional about communing with God,
  • be intentional about building a budding relationship with God.

God be with you and help you stay alive in Him in Jesus’ name,

Amen.
