God blew My Mind (The ways God speaks to us & through us )

God blew my mind, in the least expected way.

I had just got off a call in the bathroom trying so hard to get something I think I needed so bad. Only for a woman who I find fascinating meets me at the lobby. I really didn’t want to talk to her, not today, not now I thought to myself.

I find her fascinating because she talks so much! Every single time she comes in and I try to have even the slightest, shortest conversation, she just always has a way of extending the conversation.

LOL! As much as I tried to avoid her on this day, she walked up to me and started to talk. She had just got news about her source of income; it had just been cut off, so she wanted to know a couple of things. A simple question from her translated into 30 minutes of her going on and on.

But today as she went on, something about her and the things she said had my rapt attention. She had just lost her source of income, she was going to take all that she had left, go get herself a drink do some shopping, and bless the Lord. LOL! In my mind, I could not help but think how not so smart that was. But unknown to me, there was more. Her seemingly silly action was rooted in great faith in her God that she had come to know over time. Really and truly, those that know their God will do great exploit, will do foolish things in the eyes of man but valiantly stand on the solid rock of Christ.

She went on and on about her confidence in the Lord, how she was so sure He was going to provide for her tomorrow, so for today, she was going to bless Him. She went on about how things on here(earth) are so fickle and unsure, so it is in our best interest to be planted in the Lord. Lord! was I blessed from listening to her that day. She was so full of life no worries and I asked her how? She said once she got the news she prayed and she believes it was settled.

How did you know and come to the Lord, “I asked?” She said, just like what we are doing right now – a conversation! It blew my mind!!!! And set my heart on fire to even witness some more for the Lord.

She was a crack head for the good part of her life, her husband left her and took her children away. She pretty much was alone in a mental facility as well as the streets of the city I live in right now for a long time. And a conversation with a stranger who introduced the Lord to her saved her life.

And that conversation created a ripple effect because her short sermon blessed me thoroughly, it uplifted my faith. She spoke with so much confidence and faith in the Lord that she knows. She said to me, if the Lord had saved her from mental illness, drugs, preserved her till date (in her 60s) she was even more confident He will take care of her tomorrow.

The conversation I had with her emphasized the power of God; how He is able to turn every damn situation around for His good and glory. It also emphasized the power sharing testimonies and witnessing about Jesus Christ everywhere we go. She got saved because someone yielded to the Holy Spirit and shared the love of Jesus with her and here she was sharing with me unknown to her that I needed to hear it in that hour.

More so as she spoke, the story of Balaam’s talking donkey came to my mind; reminded me of how God can speak to His children through any means. It is left to us to discern the voice of the Lord as He speaks to us. – Numbers 23.

Bringing it all together, that conversation left me in awe of God and how He works. I can but only conclude that God is able to speak to us in multiple ways and just as He speaks to us to comfort and strengthen us He would love for us to speak about Him to the world around us. – Acts 1:8
