The Beauties of Seasons & Making the most use of them.

I went to bed really convinced that was still summer, only for me to wake up to the fall season which I think I love the most of all the seasons I have experienced. I do not sweat so much, even when the sun is really hot, there is just something cooling about the atmosphere; it is just the perfect weather for my skin to be honest.

But that is besides the point here my dear. The other day, I was just pondering about how fast seasons change; I wonder if they change just as I am about to wake up or it takes a process during the course of the night. The process may not matter just about now but the fact that I wake up to a brand new season just thrils me. It thrills me how fast God changes seasons; it makes me think about how God changes seasons in our lives as well.

I have gone through so many seasons in my life: one night, I slept as a high school graduate only to wake up to becoming a college student. In the night I slept as a college student only to wake up the next morning as a college graduate. One night I slept as a jobless college graduate only to wake up as an employed “baby girl” :), One night I slept off broken, clueless and unsaved, only for me to wake up to becoming saved, filled with light and pure joy from the inside. This reminds me of the Psalmist’s intense conversation with God recorded in Psalm 30:1-5. It shows us how king David started off from a place of pain as his body was incapacitated with illness but then He called on God for help. And God heard his cry, turned his mourning into rejoicing, healed his body and he points out how he must have wept all night but all that weeping changed into joy in the morning. – Psalm 30:5. David’s season of weeping and pain only lasted for a moment and then his season of freedom, strength and rejoicing followed after and he perhaps switched into another season thereafter and it probably just kept going that way till he transited from earth.

In this light, I recognize that just as there are different changing seasons for the plants and animals here on earth so are there changing seasons for us as well and God knows about them all and in fact has specific plans for every season that we go through.

That we may we grow through them all… Like every loving parent, God; our father wants us to grow through every season we experience.

Now that we recognize that we go through and would keep going through different seasons in our lives; how do we make the best use of every season?

Acknowledge God in every Season:The wisest man that ever lived; King Solomon said in his book in Ecclesiastes 8:17, that there isn’t so much man can discover about the things God is doing on earth. I find this profound in the sense that no matter how smart or intelligent we may think we are,we can never unveil or realize the depths of the things God is doing in our lives through seasons that He has established for us to go through.

Therefore, it is important that we acknowledge God’s sovereignty in every season, seek His face for guidance and walk with Him all through every season.

Know That Every season is Transitory: In all my twenty-something years lived on earth, I have never seen a season remain the same for so long. Just as the sun sets in the evening, so do seasons change often. Although a season may last for awhile, it never lasts forever. And seasons usually precede seasons. A biblical illustration of what I am saying is in Leviticus 26:3-5; God was telling to His children how different seasons of their lives would overlap each other if they obeyed Him.

Your threshing season will overlap with the grape harvest, and your grape harvest will overlap with the season of planting grain.

Leviticus 26:5

This gives us insight that God who created seasons for us to live through, created them to last only for awhile and also transition us to another season.

Enjoy Every Season: The first question that popped up in my head as I penned down this point is how do I enjoy a season that isn’t exactly enjoyable? And the Holy Spirit responded by saying Worship! Praise & Worship God. In this moment the scripture that comes to mind is Psalm 1:2-3

It says:

They that delight in the word of the Lord, meditate on it day & night will be like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season- unwithering & prospering always.

Delighting in the word of God and in His presence is the key to enjoying every single season. A friend of mine was narrating a somewhat challenging season in her life to me and I could see the delight in her eyes as she told me how she drew strength from God’s word. It was so encouraging.

Therefore, with the knowledge that every season is transitory, it never lasts. Moreso. God knows about it all and it is all His plans, why worry or be anxious?

Instead delve in His word, allow yourself to delight in it, enjoy it and allow it guide you into all truths, into the next seasons of your life.

Learn From Every Season: From acknowledging God to delighting in His word and being allowed to be guided through each seasons, I am absolutely confident that there will be lessons to be drawn out of every season. Our fore fathers in faith went through so many seasons and thanks to the Holy spirit who wrote the bible through men of God, we are able to draw lessons from every season they went through.

In the same light, learn to recognize lessons God wants you to learn from every season. It just may be helpful in another season of your life or may be helpful for a friend or family when you share with them.

Pray In Every Season: Prayer is expressing your feelings, thoughts et al. to God. It is also speaking things that you want into existence through the power vested upon you by Jesus Christ. Therefore, through every season ensure to pray to God about it. Tell Him exactly how you feel, thank Him about it, and establish the things you want during every season. Because, it is written that when you decree a thing, it is established. Job 22:28
