About God’s Hidden Wisdom ( I Corinthians 2)

Three years ago the above scripture got me really excited the moment I stumbled on it. It was God speaking to me at that time and it was blissful to experience. Three years after I come across the same scripture quoted in another chapter of the bible and it is teaching me something absolutely different. Three years ago, I saw this scripture in Isaiah 64:4.

Looking back at the things God has done for me since 2017, there has been a place of Him revealing bits, or the whole thing to me and there has been the part of knowing how to go about it through His wisdom which I access with the help of the Holy spirit. Writing this blog post now is like retracing my steps backwards, to figure how I got here and how I’d proceed.

  • I am learning that God has predestined the very purpose and way that we His creations would bring glory to His name way before time began – I Corinthians 2:7. And these varying purposes and glory is hidden from everyone; its inaccessible to just anyone. Accomplishing these distinct purposes & glory requires accessing God’s hidden wisdom with the help of the Holy Spirit.
  • I am also learning that there are three categories of wisdom:

Human wisdom – Which is the kind of wisdom that relies on ones eloquence, strength, abilities, knowledge and the likes. – I Corinthians 2:1,5

Wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age – which is popular wisdom, the fashionable wisdom of high-priced experts that will be out-of-date in a year or so. – I Corinthians 2:6 (MSG)

Ultimately, God’s wisdom – which is something mysterious that goes deep into the interior of His purposes. You don’t find it lying around on the surface. It’s not the latest message, but more like the oldest—what God determined as the way to bring out his best in us, long before we ever arrived on the scene. The experts of our day haven’t a clue about what this eternal plan is. I Corinthians 2:7 (MSG)

And this was the wisdom Jesus Christ used in fulfilling His purpose here on earth.

None of the rulers of this world understood God’s wisdom, for if they did, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory –

I Corinthians 2:9

Jesus Christ’s purpose was in multiple folds but all encompassed bringing salvation and restoring authority & dominion to mankind.

The people who were alive while Jesus walked the earth, had presumed notion of who or what the messiah would look like. They relied on their intellect to interpret the prophecies about the messiah. These category of people may be grouped into men and women who solely rely on their own wisdom for everything and even the things God may have shown them to come.

Meanwhile another group of people who just wanted Jesus dead because they thought killing Him would mean killing the opportunity for salvation to come to the world. Little did they know that God’s wisdom was way above theirs.

With all these said, how those this make any sense to me? What can I do with this information Abimbola is spurring on her blog.

I believe that the Lord would want us to know in this moment that it is not just ok to get excited about this promise in Isaiah 64:4. We have our parts to play to see that beautiful things that eyes haven’t seen nor ears heard prepared for us even before time began comes to manifestation in our life time.

Have a new birth:

As certain as Jesus Christ knew what He was here for, He still went through the process of being baptized in water. Being baptized signifies dying to the old, canal nature and rising to a new life in Christ Jesus. If not for anything, Jesus Christ did that to set a standard for as many people wanting to experience God’s promise in Isaiah 64:4. Moreso, access to God’s hidden wisdom is given only to those wo choose to walk with Him. Not everyone has access to it. Having a new birth or being born again signifies that you choose to walk with God, choose to be part of His flock. Having this new birth means you must believe and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord & savior of your life.

Ask for the Gift of the Holy Spirit:

I Corinthians 2:10 says, ”these are the things God has revealed to us by His Spirit”. The things being referred to here are the things mentioned in verse 9 which are things eyes haven’t seen, things ears haven’t heard & things never imagined by mankind prepared for all of us who love God.

Clearly, revelation plays a huge role in fulfilling destiny and bringing God glory. And this kind of revelation does not happen without the gift of the Holy spirit resident in us.

So do not stop at just being born again, ask God to give you the gift of the Holy spirit.

Make Time to fellowship with the Holy Spirit:

The same way no-one knows our thoughts except our spirits within us, the same way no-one knows the thought of God except the spirit of God. –I Corinthians 2:11-12. More so, the spirit of God goes ahead to explain deep spiritual secrets needed to discern what to do per time.

Therefore, making time to fellowship with the Holy spirit gives us access to God’s hidden wisdom, explains His mind and deep spiritual secrets for the manifestation of Isaiah 64:4
