The power of our words

Words are one of the most powerful tools God has given to us to utilize. We have the power to destroy, create, and build with words that proceed from our mouth.

He has set the example for us by creating all of us and everything beautiful with His words. He spoke everything into existence.

Prophet Ezekiel spoke life to dead bones in a valley filled with them through the power of God upon him see Ezekiel chapter 37 for full story.

Jesus ministered healing to lame, blind, possessed individuals through the words that came from His mouth. Need I say more?

Paul and his friends went about encouraging new christians with their words from city to city, building up their faith and strength in Christ Jesus.

The words of Job’s friends tormented his soul.Job chapter 19

Words as mere as they might seem, they have so much potency to break and build up the soul of an individual, even the physical life of that individual.

As a teenager, the word “ugly” shaped my thinking for a great number of my teenage life and a bit of my young adulthood. I saw a just there girl instead of the most beautiful of my own kind.

As a young adult, my boss charges us with self believe and confidence talk. On days like that I carry on a lot more gassed up, optimistic about overachieving KPIs.

Through words we communicate with God, make our wants known to Him, make utterances that come to live in our lives.

Jesus’ friend James spoke about the tongue and how powerful it is. It has the power to set a whole forest on fire. James 3:5-6

He goes on to give his advice on how we use our tongues; curses should not proceed from this power house. We should strive to say only good, positive, edifying things with our tongues.

Hence, a few things we should strive to do with our words

Be careful with our words– I hear a lot that the truth may be bitter to hear but then I think truths are relative. Anyways if you are so sure of your truth, there are really wise ways to say them without crushing the next person’s spirit

May the holy spirit give us wisdom to bring life with our words in Jesus name.

Jesus made a wise move with the prostitute and her accusers. Instead of pointing accusing fingers at them or saying hurtful things. He asked all of them without sin to throw the first stone, They all left the woman, they must have left feeling sorry with change of hearts, I believe.

Confess Positive things – The shunamite woman who had just lost her son kept confessing that all was well when she was asked.

All is well was all she kept saying and really all was well with her, her son came back to life. Prophet Elijah prayed for him. The things we say with our tongues have the power to create itself, so be mindful of the things you say about and to yourselves and even to others.

Praise God, and then make your wants known to GodPaul has admonished all of us united with God through Jesus Christ to worry not. Instead we should pour everything out to God through our words and of course thank Him, praise Him for things He has done, things He would do, for answered prayers, for just being God. Thank Him.

He lives in the praises of His people, see how powerful our words can be? God lives in the words of adoration, praises we sing to Him.

Share God’s love This is the whole essence of being saved- The really early Christians went about sharing God’s love in cities other than theirs. Experiencing God’s love is so amazing it should not be bottled up inside. Go tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ was born, lived blameless and then died so that we all can be united with God through Him. No constraints, we all have access to the father through Jesus.  I shared a glimpse of my love story here, you can have a read.
