Today, I am writing this blog post from a place of great imagination. I really cannot help but imagine the amount of greatness that lies inside of you. Earlier this week as I listened to a song titled – “Mary Did You know?“, I could not help but try to picture Mary as she carried baby Jesus in her belly. I could not help but imagine her thoughts as she heard the news of becoming pregnant with greatness. The angel, Gabriel announced to her the baby she would become pregnant with would be very great and the Lord will give Him the throne of His ancestor, David – Luke 1:30-32. She most likely just thought that her baby would one day grow up to perhaps become a king in Israel or a king just like David. She probably had no idea that she was carrying the King of kings! She had no idea the weight of the glory that she was carrying. In this same way, I cannot help but pose this question to you, do you know the weight of the glory that you carry? Do you have the slightest idea of what God has put inside of you to birth?
Still painting the picture of how Mary must have felt or thought when she learned that she would carry Jesus in her womb to be birthed according to the time of life; we shall look at the book of Luke. Luke chapter 1:31-32 – “You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David” The angel of the Lord says to her. Surprised and as curious as I can be, Mary asked the angel, “How shall this be, since I have known no man?” Luke 1:34. Great question! The angel must have thought before responding to Mary. Angel Gabriel told her, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God” – Luke 1:35. This response points us to the creative power of the Holy Spirit. Reading it again at that moment cast my mind back to creation; I could not help but think about the correlation between birthing new things and the Holy Spirit. In the very beginning, God saw the potential of the earth, so He poured out His Spirit upon the earth and the earth began to take form as He spoke out the beauties of the earth brooding with His Spirit.
In the same light, looking through the success stories of men and women that became what God made them to be, the intervention of the Holy Spirit in their lives seems to be a common occurrence.
The Holy Spirit over shadowed Mary for her to concieve Jesus. Peter and the other disciples were over shadowed by the Holy Spirit at pentecoast and the trajectory of their lives changed forever. Apostle Peter who had the potential inside of him all this while did not start to work in the reality of the greatness God had called him to until he was over shadowed by the Holy Spirit.
When the Holy Spirit comes upon a life and inside a life, He awakens all dead potentials, gives them life and these potential begin to find expression. God has put so much in you, He has made you for His glory to shine forth His light and Glory! And in order to do so, you must receive the life of God, the creative power of God – the Holy Spirit. He makes the difference in every life.
Prayer Point:
Holy Spirit Divine, over shadow my life in the name of Jesus, Amen.
