A Dose of Dope

On a beautiful Morning in March,
She had her first taste of the stash.
The best feeling she ever felt!

It was her highest high.
It felt so good, that her feet touched the sky.

Extremely good it felt, yet scary at the same time
Heart palpitating and racing "kinda" fear.

What did this thing contain?
It made her eyes roll with the stars,
her head spin around the sun,
her mind float on the moon,
made her heart pound loudly and fast as all this happened all at the same time.

What was this stash?
With the ability to take her on such a pump of short-lived adventure.

Again and again, she went back for the dose of it to get on her ride to the sky.
But got deflated as fast as she floated.

She had questions about this thing.
In her soberness, she sought answers.
Answers to her fearful questions.

What is this thing?
Death it is!
Where does it come from?
The realms of darkness it is from.
How does it get its power?
From the devil.
How much time do I have?
No time, let go of it!, the voice said.

She wept & wept
How can she let go of such "dopeness"
It would be the end of her, she thought.

A little dose here and there should not hurt
Just a little to get her high
Not too high; just the middle ground.
Somewhere in between the sky and the earth.
That should be perfect, she thought.
Till the little doses became the death of her.

In the Lord’s presence, we can have the highest high we could ever crave on this earth. It is the best feeling and experience ever. The devil knows this and has thus tried to simulate this experience with different ungodly vices that ultimately lead to destruction and death.

Today, I implore you and write to you who in the bid to enjoy some euphoria and happiness turn to dope, alcohol, or sex. You very well know how short-lived the euphoria is, you know how quickly the depression sets in right after the moment of highness. It is a lot different here in the kingdom of God, the Holy Spirit gives lasting joy or highness- whichever it is you so much desire. And ultimately this path leads to life.

Lastly, I will leave you with Apostle Paul’s wise words –

Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you and develops well-formed maturity in you.- Romans 12:1
