How The Earnest Prayer of the Church Changed Everything – Acts 12:1-12

The Acts of the Apostles bring to light the lifestyle of the church of old and in my opinion, the present-day church should keep learning from the dealings of the old church. This week I would love you to accompany me to the book of Acts of the Apostles chapter 12 verses 1 through 12.

The first verse of this chapter starts by telling us the state of the church which wasn’t exactly as great as the church faced great. persecution. Great persecution that one of their leaders was killed and the other imprisoned. Apostle James was the one killed while Apostle Peter was the one imprisoned. As the chapter progresses, it seems as though the church was awakened to its authority in Christ Jesus and the potency of the earnest prayer of the righteous because the bible tells us in verse 5 of Acts chapter 12 that the church prayed earnestly for Apostle Peter. I want you to take a pause at this moment and think about the word earnest; a version of the bible says that the church prayed without ceasing for Peter. Their prayer was unceasing to the extent that even when Peter was released he met the church praying for him at Mary’s house.

In my opinion, this is the definition of Pray Until Something Happens. The church stayed unwavering in their prayers for Peter, they kept at it until they saw the result and manifestation of the thing they were praying for. As I write this blog post I am reminded of a recent video of an ex-satanist who shared the potency of consistent prayers. He shared in that video how about six women met every day, and bound themselves to continuous praying for the church all over the world. He said their prayers were so potent that lives were being saved, marriages received all over the world and the kingdom of darkness felt so threatened that they had to find every means possible to break the union. Although, the enemy was able to break them – I was left in awe of the potency of the prayers of righteous people around the world.

I sense greatly that the Lord is raising an army of revivalists in the coming year, men and women who would stay unwavering in the place of prayer- praying the perfect will for God over the earth. I hope and pray that you will be in the number enrolled and enlisted in this army.
