About the Mighty Right Arm of God

The mighty right arm of the Lord is a phrase I could not shake out of my mind all week long. I doubt that I fully grasp the power of God’s mighty right arm but I know of its potency. I have learned of it, I have seen how it did great wonders in the lives of our fathers and mothers of faith. I have also seen His mighty right arm part red sea situations in my life.

So in this blog post, I aim to explore the mighty right arm and hand of God. I kick start with Jesus’ account about God’s right hand in Luke 2:69. He was sharing with His disciples where He was going to and He said, “Hereafter the son of Man will sit on the right hand of the power of God” Without a doubt God is the almighty, but it seems to me that there is a different kind of power specially set aside to be dispensed for His children at His right hand. Apostle Peter goes ahead to tell us more about this special power at God’s right hand in I Peter 3:22. He tells us that Jesus Christ ascended and is seated at the right hand of God where angels, authorities and powers have been made subject to Him.

God is so intentional and full of depth that I am more than convinced that it is not a coincidence that He has Jesus Christ seated at His right hand which has done valiant things before the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And it continues to do valiant things for His children even till date. King David gives an account of the wonders of God’s mighty arm for His children in Psalms 44:3. By God’s right hand, God’s children were able to take possession of their territory, they were also delivered from the evil hands of their enemies. And by this same arm, they enjoyed God’s favor. I think it is noteworthy that this account described by king David was passed down to him by word of mouth from generation to generation. And I find it profound that the acknowledgement of the power of God’s mighty right arm was not lost in all those years of passing down the testimony.

More digging into God’s word we see God swear by His right hand in Isaiah 62:8 that He would no longer give out His children’s food to their enemies neither shall He allow foreigners drink of His children’s new wine for which they have worked hard for. Why did God swear by His right hand and not His left hand? Well, I think the same verse answers this question, God’s right hand is His arm of strength.

By no means am I trying to say that God’s left arm or hand is less powerful than His right. He is the all powerful God but I believe it is important to know all of God’s blessings available to us for our advantage and use. Just the same way we understand that we should continuously wear the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness for our protection in the kingdom of God- Ephesians 6:14 .The knowledge of the strength and the power of salvation in God’s mighty right arm could help us engage that power to bring us victory or deliverance as the case may be.

As I wrap up this blog post, I leave you with this charge from the Lord in Isaiah 59:1-2 – “My hand is not too short to save, nor is my ear heavy that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from me and your sins have hidden my face from you”.

Our dear God is at attention with His ears inclined to our cries and pleas for help. And so are His hands ready to save us from all forms of evil but an hinderance to the mighty move of His power in our lives may be sin. The almighty is a Holy God and cannot behold or stand filth. So although He loves you so much and wants to save you, living in sin stands as an hinderance to His mighty right hand. A good example of how filth may be an hinderance to the move of God’s hand in our lives is Jeshua, the high priest’s story. God wanted to decorate him with beautiful crown and clothing but the accuser of the brethren(the devil) who acts as an evil advocate against God’s children was there to contend God’s blessings for priest Jeshua. But thank God for His mercies, He overruled the accusations of the devil and sent His angels to go take away the filthy garment in the form of sin which was upon priest Jeshua. God was not able to bless Jeshua until all the filth was taken off his body – Zechariah 3:1-5. With that said, I write to you my dear brother and sister in faith to continue in your walk with the Lord with every form of holiness within and outside. And for my dear friend who is still thinking about this faith walk, I counsel you to say yes to Jesus today. He is the best friend anyone could ever have. He wants to hear from you, speak to you and ultimately save you. Come to Jesus today dear friend.
