God’s children had just walked out of years of hell in the hands of their slave master -Pharaoh. They triumphantly made their way out of Egypt , marching into the very place God promised them. Their land of ease, flowing with abundance. They probably imagined the journey ahead of them to be rosy given the years of maltreatment that they had suffered. But they were in for the surprise of their lives when they got to the bank of the red sea with no way around crossing over to the other side. Out of frustration and cluelessness, God’s children began to wail, and cry out to God in bitterness. They began to make silly remarks about how it would have been better if God had left them to die in bondage in Egypt rather than die in the wilderness (Exodus 14:11-13). I can completely relate to how they must have felt. Exactly two years ago, I was at a red sea situation. God had instructed me to move forward in a direction only for me to be hit by a huge red sea ahead of me and nothing encouraging to fall back to. I silently wished and hoped that God would take my life in that season. I did not have energy to keep on living when I felt stranded and left alone by God who had led me that far.
Back to God’s children who were blessed with an amazing leader in Moses who encouraged them in the Lord. He kept repeating to them to stay calm and watch how God would deliver them yet again. But God’s children would not hear of it, they continued in their cries of fear and doubts. This outcry most definitely propelled Moses to cry out to God for help and God’s response to Him was – “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward” But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
Moses did exactly as instructed by the Lord and the sea was divided for God’s children to pass through by the rod in Moses’ hand. All the while when God’s children complained, the instrument for their progress was within reach. Only if they had cried out to God for help instead of complain, their vision and ability to hear from God would have been unimpaired. They would have known just exactly what to do in order to move forward. Just like God’s children, the very thing I needed to cross the red sea was right within my reach, I just needed to move forward just like God instructed His children back in the day.
This has probably been your situation sometime in life or perhaps it is where you are right now. You are elated about the progress you have made so far only to be bumped with a red sea ahead of you. Perhaps the rod to part the red sea into two for your triumphant passage is within reach, closer to you than you could imagine. But you just cannot figure it out, I recommend that you wipe your tears away, get rid of the fear that seems to blur your vision and clarity. And cry out to God to save you, cry out to Him to reveal to you answers to move forward. The God that I serve and know is faithful to deliver His children every single time they cry out to Him for help. A key word mentioned in my last sentence is children, He is committed to saving His children who cry out to Him for help. With that said, do you identify as His child yet? Have you received His salvation and do you acknowledge Him in your life? If you do not, it isn’t too late to do so today. Say the prayers here and find yourself a great bible believing church close to you to fellowship at. God wants to save you, He wants to help you but you need to make your request known to Him instead of sulk and complain all day.
So my dear, go ahead right now and cry out to your father to save you and to help you.
