I went to fellowship with my teenage friends as usual today, i am usually around to give them support the small ways I can. And when I speak with them, like deliver a talk,I tell them before hand or I am informed. So I plan ahead.
I got there today and their teacher went all spontaneous on me, asked me to speak to them shortly. Of course! A milli second panic set in, and then I asked the Holy Spirit for help. He brought to my memory Mathew 5:16, He helped me deliver the talk and I believe He drove the point in today.
As I left the school’s gate I pondered more about the verse, I read different versions of the verse on my way back to work.
I honestly pray for the day I can deliver all the things that run through my mind at a speech or in front of a large audience without blinking an eye one day. Amen
Hence, I write….i write my thoughts, I do not even fully express myself all of the time. God is helping me, The Holy spirit is my senior partner. God’s love is too amazing to be bottled up, the knowledge f Him is too magnificent o be bottled up, hence I write till the day I mount that stage and speak to the world.
Okay! I seem to be diverting just a little bit.
“Let your let so shine before men, that they may see your good works and praise your father in heaven”
Funny thing is I have read this verse this year, I read it earlier this year, and I do not remember its resonance through my soul like today. I am trying to read the whole bible this year, so I started reading the New Testament from the book of Mathew. That is one of the many beauties of the word of God. It hits you in different ways, from different angles. Sometimes it feels like falling in love with your babe again and again every time you see her. God’s word addresses different situations at different times; it is the living word.
And yeah! It is a popular verse from the bible.
Shining your light may not necessarily mean you are the wealthiest or the most beautiful or the smartest in the circle. To shine God’s light through your life is
- Standing out in the crowd; not bothering about fitting in
- Smiling through struggles and people do not just get how you are pulling through
- Sharing God’s love with people around you
- Excelling at the things you set out to do
- Loving people regardless of their personalities
- Leaving people in awe of the way you behave or do things’ they just do not get how you do it-in a good way though.

How does one shine when he/she has not been illuminated; I can only be a reflector of His light when His light has illuminated mine.
I can only do good by His help; He loves and cares for me and you despite our evil ways. How else can I do good to someone who does not “deserve’ any good if not by learning from Him and His Assistance.
My soul has been regenerated, I am born again, the Holy Spirit now lives within me, lives with me and shines His light on those dark areas in my life. Gradually my life starts to light up, my life is lit up.
This doesn’t just happen in one day; it takes deliberate action to keep the fire burning, to keep the light up.
John chapters 1 verses 1-5 says;
In the beginning the word existed, the word was with God, and the word was God. From the very beginning the word was with God. Through Him God made all things, not one thing in all creation was made without Him. The word was life, and this life brought light to people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out.
The word (The Holy bible) is God handed to us in prints, God’s mind poured out for us to see legibly, to know Him. It was through His word everything on earth was created, absolutely everything. Hence, the kind of live that shines so bright, the kind filled with beauty and splendor can only be created through God’s word.
The word of God is also Jesus, who came to us in flesh to light up our lives, came to lead an exemplary life, a blazing life. We should take lessons from Him, how else? if not by being His friend.
This kind of life does not die, it blossoms, It does not get choked up with the confusion in the world
Two things, accept Jesus as your friend already, He is an amazing friend. Start to read your bible, it’s the only print that has life and brings life to the soul. Have a read today.
