I was in a girls’ hangout sometime last year and I was asked what my greatest fear was and I said to them; “it is the fear of not making heaven”. I am not exactly sure if Jesus permits me to have fears at all even if it is the fear of not spending eternity with Him but that was my answer on that day.
Thinking about it now, I would say its more like the fear of losing my relationship with Jesus Christ. I fear sometimes of falling out of love with my Jesus, for this reasons I do what I can and ultimately ask Him to help keep the fire burning. A close look at things around me, I see how very quickly one can fall out of love in relationships even in a relationship with Jesus. There are so many distractions around that are capable of veering one off cause.
I also understand that people do not just wake up and decide to fall out of love in relationships, many of the times it is usually a pile of things that may have happened over time that leads to situations where people fall out of love. A little missing of fellowship here , missing of personal bible study there, a little challenge there then some little slips of sin there and before one knows what is happening. One may find oneself struggling to stay afloat in the kingdom.
Sometime last year and even up until sometime this year, a lot of times in conversations with believers I found myself discussing reasons why and how people lose their salvation which in my own language fall out of love with Jesus Christ. I remember that people and myself included had different reasons at different times. This week, I found myself thinking about it again and hence my writing about it.
Let me quickly add here that Jesus Christ can never and would never fall out of love with us. He has loved us with an everlasting love. Jeremiah 31:3. Not even our fear or our troubles, or deviation from Him can stop His love for us. More so, it is because He first loved us, that we are even capable of loving at all. Hence, why we need His help to love Him, love ourselves and the people around us.
Although Salvation is God’s free gift to us, we have our roles to play in building up our most holy faith in Christ Jesus- Jude 1:20. I believe the least we can ever do in building our faith is recognizing that we are flesh and blood and can fall at any time and thus we should solely and hopelessly rely on God’s help to take us through our faith journey.
When we are on fire for God or burning with passion for Him, there is the tendency to beat our chest to make statements in the spur of the moment just like Peter who said to Jesus, “I can never deny you!” Matthew 25:35, Mark 14:31. No doubt, Peter absolutely loved Jesus, He was ready to kill for Jesus at the garden of Gethsemane when Jesus was arrested –John 18:10. But still he denied Jesus three times! God’s word says that if we ever boast, we should boast in the Lord I Corinthians 1:31. Therefore, statements like I can never do that to Jesus shouldn’t be made with confidence in the flesh but with confidence in the Lord who is our present help.
I also believe we should be careful and watchful of little slips here and there; we should always fill up every vacuum in our lives with God’s word or something things that edifies our spirit man.

And lastly on this week’s blog post is God’s word in Jude 1:20-21 But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.
This was a letter written by Jude to every single believer who has been called by God, he admonishes us about staying safe in the love of God. He talks about building each other up which is a pointer to the kinds of companies we keep. As believers that want to stay in love with Christ till the end, we should endeavour to stay around believers who are willing and able to sharpen one another as well as surrender to the power and leading of he Holy spirit. And most importantly pray together!
