And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
Hebrews 10:25
Walking with Jesus entails having great communication with Him, that is how the relationship is able to thrive and blossom. I mean think about it, think about the friends that you have – how are you able to sustain and keep those friendships? Through communication, you are able to learn about the things that excite them, things that make them happy, the same way they are able to learn about you as well.
But then what happens on days when you just do not feel like talking to that friend, days when you are not just feeling the friendship? You would find a way to navigate through it, right? Especially those friends that mean the world to you. The same thing could happen with our relationship with Jesus. Sometimes, you may just be so exahuasted physically to even have a conversation with Him. But like every friendship that matters to us, we must always find ways to navigate through it.
This week, I would be sharing with you what I was reminded of about fellowshipping with other men and women of faith. My week started off with me attending a worship concert of a more than amazing worship minister. And for a moment as I worshipped I could not help but marvel in awe how beautiful the congregation sounded singing together. Different people from all works of life, young and old, with different backgrounds and stories singing unsynced and synced to the father in heaven. It was a different kind of energy in that building that day. I can bet that someone in that congregation was blessed or strengthened from that mere arrangement. Not to talk of God;s glory that poured down on us that day. This leads me to my next story.
My week started off on a great note as I highlighted, only for me to start to feel really weak physically and I was beginning to almost struggle in my personal communion with Jesus. I really contemplated not attending the mid-week service this time but thankfully, I dragged myself to the service that day. And o boy! Was I divinely strengthened on that day, I left the service energized in my body, soul and spirit. All glory to God who touched me in the service on that day
I acknowledge that there are a number of other things that I could have done to draw strength from the throne of heaven. But, this is what the Lord highlighted for me this week and He probably is speaking to you who may have made up your mind to stop attending church. You are probably tired of all the politics played in a “so called house of God” or you may have been hurt by the church or it could be a completely different reason that I am not able to capture right now. As much as I am an advocate of personally knowing God for yourself and cultivating intimatcy with Him. He wants us to also fellowship with other men and women of faith and we find this arrangement more than often in churches and fellowships. If we take lessons from the disciples of old,
- the pentecoast miracle happened when they were all gathered together in the upper room- Acts 1:12-14. There is just so much power in praying in unism to the father in heaven
- the church was able to pray together for the release of Peter – Acts 12:5
My dear friend, I encourage you to return to a bible and Jesus believing church with your eyes fixed on Jesus alone. And I trust Him to surround you with the right people that love Him and ooze of His love. God tells us in His word , not to neglect the gathering of other believers for reasons in our best interests, so let us do well to obey Him.
And ultimately as you do not forsake the fellowship of God’s people, do not forsake your intimate relationship and walk with Him as well. May we be continually strengthened to fight the good fight, run the race till the end and keep our faith in Jesus, Amen.
