So I was having this interesting conversation with my colleague the other day. Interesting because this babe and I never discuss things like this; relationships and yeah! I love love. Anyone who knows me, knows how excited I get and interested in relationship talks.
She told me about some guy in the pipeline but then there were objections. Her description seemed fine to me though and I let I see my point from my angle. Then I asked her what is God saying about it, him? Have you asked God about Him though?
And her response was, would God come down to tell her? Hopefully, I was able to conceal my surprise. I managed to murmur some ways God speaks though and told her to speak with her mentor.
This prompted this post. I realize I was like her some time last year. In a space of months, I have grown spiritually and I am thankful for every growth. I have decided to share some ways God speaks to His children.
Initially, I’d crave badly for God to speak to me. I have heard stories of people who have conversations with God and in my head I had a picture of something ghen ghen (dramatic) like the burning bush-God speaking to Moses in the Bible.
The first time I was concious of God speaking to me, it was a calm still voice. I had just been baptized by water and the Holy Ghost. Iit was time to join a group in church, and ordinarily I wanted to join the Jireh’s team. This team catered for the needy in church and outside. But I spoke to my counselor and he strongly advised I prayed I waited to hear from God. So he gave me a week. I had a deadline to work with; I had to be persistent in my prayers to get answers.
So every day, I would ask God, what group should I join? After my prayer, I’d wait awhile to hear His reply. I got my answer on the third day. It’s been amazing working in the team God chose for me-Goldmine. I have found out how well I work with young people, there is a lot of fulfillment listening to them and helping them the ways I can. Moreover, I have met some amazing people on the team.
God speaks to us calmly, lowly but most of the times, we are too busy to pay attention, we are crowded with so much noise we can’t hear Him when He speaks to us.
Don’t hesitate to ask for God’s Opinion– There are certain times we are at crossroads, we just do not know the turn to take. God is the ultimate road map or rather He has all the road maps in His hands, He is willing and is able to show to whoever asks Him of it. You want direction about that certain thing, ask God in Jesus name, just ask Him. Jer 33:3
Wait for His Response– This is where majority of us miss it. I am such a defaulter. I am still working on my waiting game. I ask God for something, and then I rush off to go do something else. It doesn’t work like that. Imagine you asked your friend for something and you run off just before he/she gives the answer to the question you asked. You sure would not get the answer.
When you ask God for things in prayer, wait there; wait for Him to say something. He is not deaf neither is He dumb. He listens and speaks always.
Pay attention– Don’t just pray, stay still and say you waiting on God to speak to you. Allow your mind to be focused on Him, be in anticipation of the answer you are about to receive. A divided mind would not hear anything. A divided mind means a whole lot of things happening at the same time in your mind, so much noise there. God may speak and you just might miss it in the mist of the noise and crowd in your mind.
Stay persistent– I kept asking and waiting on God for three days on one thing. What group do I join Lord? Some wait a little more than three days. God is never late, He is always in time. He has different reasons for letting us wait. He probably was training me on the wait game, or how to stay persistent. Whatever reasons, I got my answer and I always get excited every time I remember. Goldmine really is the best fit, I am thankful I was led to seek God’s face about it.
So yeah! God speaks to us daily, He can speak to anybody, not every time drama.
In my next post, I would highlight some few ways God has spoken to me and how he speaks to us.
