Sin is the root cause of everything wrong in the world today and everything that could ever go wrong with the world. This is a rather strong statement to make, right? I agree it is rather a statement that is too strong to make. However, after so much pondering, I can’t help but come to this conclusion. Moreover, the word of God confirms this – In Genesis chapters 1 and 2, we see our good God build up a world of perfection, placing man and woman in the company of adorable animals. Only for the enemy to sneak in with “sin” which marked the beginning of all the turmoil in the world, sadly, this trend continued from generation to generation until our Lord Jesus Christ came to abolish all of the works of darkness in operation.
The evils of this world aside, I would love to address the immediate consequences of sin in the bloodstream and lineage of man. Shall we?
Draped and Undraped of the Glory of God:
For God knows how long; Adam and Eve worked and walked around the garden without physical clothing yet they were unashamed. The Bible tells us in Genesis 2:25 that they were both naked yet unashamed. As I have said in previous videos and posts, every detail in the bible is there for a reason and should be paid attention to per time as the Holy Spirit highlights. About a year ago, the Holy Spirit highlighted to me why Adam and Eve walked around the garden proudly and unashamed. They were both draped in God’s Glory and walked around the garden without shame. Sadly, they went contrary to the instructions of God and fell short of His glory – Romans 3:23. As soon as they took out of the forbidden tree, one of the first things they realized was their nakedness. Romans 3:23 doesn’t mince words at all, it tells it as it is. Every one of us born of the lineage of the first Adam has all sinned and has been stripped of the Glory of God. Even worse off for as many who do not embrace the redemption that Jesus Christ offers us. However, glory to the King of Kings who endured shame on the cross, who was stripped naked for our shame, who bore our transgressions, suffered chastisement for our sakes that we may be restored to the perfect state of creation On the cross, there was a divine exchange for humanity; beauty for our ashes, restored glory for shame and nakedness.
Eternal Separation:
The Bible shares with us that in the cool of the evening, God walked through the garden to just be with Adam and Eve(Genesis 3:8). This is the sole purpose for our creation; to just be with God, for His nature to continue to rub off on us, so that we may be continuous extension and expression of Him on the earth. Sadly, as soon as sin was introduced into the equation a huge gulf was erected between God and man. For years, for generations to come humanity lost that communion that once was enjoyed in the Garden of Eden. Only a few men and women like Moses, David, Deborah, Elijah, Elisha, and so on enjoyed this sweet sweet communion with the Lord. Imagine the sample size of people who experienced intimacy with God compared to the multitude of men and women who lived on the earth. Sin is the culprit and man is the shotgun through which it finds its expression or is it the reverse? Either way, that eternal separation from God exists between Him and anyone who chooses to use the “shotgun”.
However, thanks be to our Lord Jesus Christ who came to bridge the gap and gulf between man and God. Thanks to Jesus Christ all humanity has access to the sweet Holy Spirit, by whom we all can enjoy sweet fellowship and communion with our Lord always.
Loss of Spiritual Sensitivity:
One of the things that fascinates me yet hurts me about the account of Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:8 is the clarity and sensitivity that Adam and Eve had. The Bible tells us that
they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. - Genesis 3:8
More so, all of the instructions God gave to Adam were clear communications, there was no second guessing or doubting the voice of God. The sensitivity to God’s voice was there in the beginning until that fateful day when the serpent convinced Eve to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Sadly, second-guessing the existence of God, His voice, His direction, His leading, His love, is the fate of all who refuse to embrace the restoration that He provides through Jesus Christ
Knowledge of Good and Evil:
This!!!! God shielded man from the knowledge of all of the evil that existed, exists, and would exist in this world all thanks to the devil and his cohort. God made man and put him in a bubble of enjoyment but man chose the hard way, chose to eat that fruit which opened the floodgate to unnecessary knowledge. Eating that, disobeying God’s instructions, and forsaking God’s love exposed the whole of humanity to all of the evils in this world. Only if Eve had not listened to the serpent, we all would be in Eden, in God’s presence where there is an outpouring of joy and pleasures forevermore.
The sole purpose of this post is to bring our attention to the consequences of the lives we choose to live. Do we want to live our lives connected to the almighty God? Do we want to live our lives led by the one who knows the end from the beginning? Do we want to live our lives shielded from the vices of the enemy, Do we want to live our lives in the fullness of God’s love and mercies? Do we want to fully express God and His divine nature? Do we want to live with the assurance of the New Jerusalem where death will cease to exist, where joy everlasting will abound? – Revelation 21:1-2
A life separate from sin, a life surrendered to God guarantees living our lives to the fullest. Hence, I implore you dear friend to choose life over momentarily pleasure. I pray that the Lord Jesus will continue to help us to choose life always. Amen.
