8 Priceless Gifts Jesus Gave You and I

God—the most gracious, powerful, beautiful, and renowned—yet so often misconstrued, misunderstood, and even spoken down to by the very ones He created. As I read through the Old Testament, I see a people who never fully grasped the knowledge of their God. They knew Him as the God of their fathers—Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—but they struggled to enter into that place of personal intimacy, interaction, and true knowledge of the Most High. And honestly, I cannot lay all the blame on them. That disconnect from the Alpha and the Omega was sown deep into human nature through Adam’s fall from grace. Yet, if we go back to Genesis chapters 1 and 2, we see a glimpse of God’s perfect design—what our relationship with Him was meant to be, could have been, and still should be.

With that said, can we take a look at a few things Jesus Christ did for us:

Jesus Christ came to reveal the nature, Character, and Essence of God to us- Hebrews 1:3:

For centuries, God’s children had to rely on secondhand accounts of who He was—stories passed down from their ancestors, teachings from priests, or encounters that only a few chosen individuals experienced. To them, He was the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Noah, Deborah—the God who fought their battles, gave them victories, and disciplined them when they strayed. For many, He was more of a distant figure they heard about than someone they truly knew personally.

One passage that still fascinates me, and perfectly illustrates this, is found in Exodus 20:18-19. When the children of Israel gathered at the foot of Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments, they trembled with fear. Overwhelmed by the thunder, lightning, and flashes from heaven, they begged Moses, “You speak to us, and we will listen. But do not let God speak to us, or we will die.” Imagine their mindset! They believed God’s very voice would kill them, not realizing that it was the voice of the One who had made them and deeply loved them.

What terrified them, Moses embraced wholeheartedly. He longed for God’s presence and delighted in His voice. But this distorted view of God—the belief that He was unapproachable and only to be feared—was one of the things Jesus came to correct. Scripture says He is the express image of God (Hebrews 1:3). Through His ministry, we see Him filled with compassion, moved to tears, answering questions, and walking closely with His disciples. In Jesus, the true heart, character, and essence of God are revealed.

So, my dear, if you desire to truly know the nature of God, look to Jesus. Take His yoke upon you and study His life as He walked this earth. For as He Himself said: “When you see Me, you see the Father” (John 14:9).

Jesus Christ came to restore the Broken relationship man had with God(II Corinthians 5:18-19):

Sin—the very thing that shattered the budding relationship between God and His children—came to sow discord between Creator and creation. Its entrance into humanity broke God’s heart and destroyed the flourishing intimacy He once had with Adam in Eden. Scripture tells us how God would walk in the garden in the cool of the day to commune with Adam. Even more astounding is that Adam could hear the very footsteps of God approaching! Imagine how clearly he heard God’s voice—so distinctly that he received instructions about naming the animals and was told about the gift of Eve as his companion. What a beautiful fellowship that must have been.

Sadly, today, many struggle even to recognize God’s presence, let alone discern His voice. And yet, this pales in comparison to the silence that often marked the Old Testament days. We read, “The word of the Lord was rare in those days” (1 Samuel 3:1). Whenever I reflect on that, I can’t help but whisper, “Thank You, Jesus!” Because Jesus came to restore what was lost in Eden. He came to reconnect us with heaven so that you and I can once again hear clearly from God whenever we desire.

Before Christ, it was as though heaven’s voice reached only a chosen few—those tuned to God’s frequency. But now, just as the prophet Joel declared, “In the last days, I will pour out my Spirit on all people” (Joel 2:28-29). Through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the scarcity of God’s word is no more! The Spirit reveals the Father’s heart, stirs us to action, and guides us as God intends. Oh, glory to Jesus—for through Him, heaven has been opened to us here on earth.

After His resurrection, we see in the New Testament how disciples received visions, revelations, and divine inspiration to write the Scriptures we now treasure. This was once rare, but Christ made it possible. Thanks be to our Lord Jesus Christ, who united us with Himself and restored our access to the Father.

And here lies the heart of it all: before we can hear God’s voice, there must first be a relationship with Him. That is why Christ came—to live in human form, to understand our frailty, to relate our struggles to God, and ultimately to restore our broken relationship with Him. “All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And He has entrusted to us this message of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:18-19).

Jesus Christ came to reveal our identity as sons and daughters of God and to restore our place as joint-heirs of His Kingdom. (Ephesians 1:5, Romans 8:16-17) :

Another thing the devil did in Eden was steal from the human race, as described in John 10:10 – the sole aim and purpose of the devil is to kill, steal, and destroy things that rightly belong to God’s children. He clearly had a hint of what Jesus Christ came to do, and so attempted to steal again from us. That was why he tempted our Lord Jesus Christ, as captured in Matthew 4:1-11, to steal from us yet again. But thanks be to our Lord Jesus, who overcame and restored our sonship and heirship of God’s kingdom even here on earth. By the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, we have been adopted, engrafted into the big family of our Lord. By the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, we are all joint heirs of the Kingdom of God! Isn’t that beautiful! Another thing lost in Eden after the entrance of sin was identity. God’s children no longer fully recognized Him as their Father. Their sense of belonging wavered; it was as though they could never quite grasp who they were in God’s grand design. Scripture shows us that neighboring nations trembled at the mere presence of Israel as they passed by. Those nations feared the God of Israel, who was fiercely jealous over His people—yet the children of God themselves remained unaware of the depth of His love and jealousy for them. Spiritually, they remained as infants, not fully recognizing who their Father was.

The enemy also stole from mankind in Eden. As John 10:10 reminds us, the thief’s mission is simple: to steal, kill, and destroy everything that rightly belongs to God’s children. And even though he knew, at least in part, what Jesus had come to accomplish, he still tried to steal again—tempting our Lord in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1–11). But thanks be to Jesus, who overcame every attempt of the devil and restored to us both our sonship and our inheritance in the Kingdom of God.

Through Christ, we have been adopted and engrafted into God’s great family. By His power, we stand today as joint heirs with Him—heirs of the Kingdom even while here on earth. Oh, what a beautiful truth!

Jesus Christ came to Circumcise our hearts(Colossians 2:1, Ephesians 4:22):

Oh, how hardened the hearts of God’s people were in those days! Take the law of divorce, for example. God only permitted it because He saw how unyielding the hearts of men had become. If it were left entirely to Him, he desires that we forgive endlessly—seventy times seven—work through conflicts, and enjoy marriages that last. But because sin had so deeply corrupted the human heart, He allowed divorce in cases of infidelity (Matthew 19:8). And even then, infidelity should never have existed in the first place. Yet sin has dragged man so low that he would even stoop to something as degrading as betrayal and cheating.

But thanks be to God—Jesus Christ came to give us the power to put off the old nature of sin and to take on a new heart and a renewed spirit. In Him, we can love unconditionally, extend grace as freely as we have received it, forgive without struggle, and live as Christ Himself lived. This transformation of the heart is what Scripture calls the “circumcision of the heart”—where the hardened covering is removed, and what emerges is a tender, beating heart, alive and burning with love for Christ.

Jesus Christ came to atone for our sins and gave us access to the throne of Grace(Hebrews 4:16, Hebrews 9:12-14, I John 2:2) :

This throne of grace—oh, how often it has been misunderstood or taken lightly! Yet it was Jesus Christ who opened the way for us. What an incredible price He paid! In times past, and even still in some religions today, people try to atone for sins through rituals—animal sacrifices offered by priests, or confessions made to human mediators. But Christ came to fulfill the law once and for all concerning atonement. He took upon Himself the sins of the whole world, nailed them to the cross, and through His sacrifice gave us access to come boldly—no matter where we are—to ask God for forgiveness.

What a wonder Jesus is! By His own blood, He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, securing eternal redemption for us (Hebrews 9:12-14). He offered Himself spotless before God to cleanse our consciences from dead works so that we might truly serve the living God. After all, how could we respond to a living God with dead consciences? Impossible! This is why the circumcision of the heart—removing the old, hardened nature so a new, living heart for Christ can emerge—is so vital to our relationship with Him. Glory to our Lord Jesus, who loved us, who still loves us, and who gave us the greatest gift imaginable—Himself.

So, my dear friend, if you are weighed down by guilt or struggling to believe your sins can be forgiven, look to Jesus. Hebrews 4:16 invites us to come boldly before the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. And yet, let us remember—this boldness is not a license to continue in sin. As Paul admonishes in Romans 6:1, we must never abuse the grace, mercy, and privileges Christ has secured for us.

He is constantly mediating for us(Revelation 12:20):

Jesus Christ is like our heavenly attorney constantly mediating for us and on our behalf before the throne of Grace. One of the specialties of the devil is to bring accusations against God’s children before the heavenly throne. The bible refers to the devil as the accuser of the brethren in Revelation 12:10. We also see how he went before God to accuse Job of conditional loyalty. He described to God how Job was only faithful to God because of the blessings of God. We can also infere that the devil went to accuse the mighty Moses of his shortcomings because the bible tells us there was a contention for the body of Moses (Jude 1:9 -“but even the arch angel Michael, when he was contending with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare bring a slanderous judgement against him, but said, The Lord rebuke you!” You see how audacious the devil is to try to lay claims over the soul and body of Moses because of his shortcomings at Meribah. The devil holds records of wrongs and is quick to bring them before the throne room of God. However, love, which is Jesus Christ, keeps records of no wrong( I Corinthians 13:5), and even more so Jesus Christ, who can empathize with our weaknesses, constantly mediates in our favor at the throne of Grace -II Timothy 2:5-6)

Jesus came to destroy the works of the enemy(I John 3:8)

The Bible verse that best illustrates this victory is Colossians 2:15: “He disarmed principalities and powers and made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them.”

I can’t get over that phrase: He made a spectacle of them.

One thing that makes Bible reading so alive for me is engaging my imagination. And when I read this verse, I picture my Jesus ridiculing the enemy and his cohorts in open defeat. They thought they could hold God’s children hostage forever—but Jesus shattered their claims, destroyed their works, and broke every chain.

The Passion Translation captures this perfectly: “Then Jesus made a public spectacle of all the powers and principalities of darkness, stripping away from them every weapon and all their spiritual authority and power to accuse us. And by the power of the cross, Jesus led them around as prisoners in a procession of triumph. He was not their prisoner; they were His!”

Oh, how I love this truth so much!

And here’s the best part: this reality is ours to lay hold of and enforce every day, as long as we belong to Him, walk by His Spirit, and live for His glory. Whatever work of darkness may have tried to hide in your lineage, Jesus Christ already destroyed it on the cross.

Jesus’s death and resurrection gave us access to the most precious gift ever – The Holy Spirit! (Ephesians 2:18):

What sin did to our consciences, hearts, and spirits was deadly—it killed them. Sin drove out the Spirit of God from within us and created a disconnect with the Most High. Yet, at creation, God breathed His very breath into us so we could live and move for Him. His Spirit in us was always meant to be the connection between Him and us. Through His Spirit, God communicates His mind, His plans, His instructions, and His wisdom. And by His Spirit, we are empowered to live the victorious, abundant life He designed for us.

All through Scripture, we see that men and women who made a lasting difference—those who lived fulfilled, God-centered lives—were filled with the Spirit of God. In Numbers 11:16 -19, God instructed Moses to gather seventy elders so that the same Spirit(the spirit of God) working in him could also rest upon them. In Luke 1:35, Mary conceived and carried the Messiah through the power of the Holy Spirit. The pattern is clear: it is the Spirit of God who enables His people to do the impossible.

That’s why the gift of the Holy Spirit is one I urge you to receive as soon as you confess Jesus Christ as Lord. With the Holy Spirit alive within you, the possibilities are truly endless! And all of this is possible because Jesus came to die for our sins and restore God’s presence in us.

Glory to Jesus forever! If you’re still unsure of where you stand, I lovingly encourage you to stand with Jesus Christ. He loves you more than you can imagine, and walking with Him into eternity will unlock your true potential and every possibility He has designed for you. And if anything I’ve shared here is unclear, feel free to reach out—I’d be glad to walk with you on this journey (info@abimbolaswalk.com).
