If you asked me about lessons from Jesus’ miracle at the wedding at Cana a few weeks ago, the lessons I would share would revolve around how He honored His mum. I would probably share how significant and beautiful His first miracle was at a wedding because I am a hopeful romantic. I would probably also share how lovely it was for Jesus to supply the needs of the couple at the moment. He did not allow their joy-filled wedding ceremony to end in shame. These lessons in themselves are significant, however, the other day as I watched the Wedding Party 2; a Mount Zion Ministries production, a different meaning came to me.
I find it wholesome and beautiful to see how a two-part movie could be together by inspiration from only twelve verses of the bible – John 2:1-12. It wasn’t until the end of The Wedding Party 2 that it occurred to me that the inspiration for both movies might just have been from John 2:1-12. The epilogue of the movie rendered by Evangelist Damilola Mike-Bamiloye helped to harness and shine the light into my eyes. He said and I paraphrase, “It all started at the wedding party, when Jesus turned water to wine. All that drank of the wine never remained the same again”. That was the “ha ha” moment for me! For the first time, I thought of the people in attendance at the wedding party at Cana. For once I thought about their reaction when they tasted the special wine made by Jesus. For once, I thought about the significant turnaround and miracle that everyone who drank the wine might have experienced. I mean the wine carried the power of God and I believe everyone who drank of it that day must have experienced the power. This revelation left me awestruck and excited at the same time. I really cannot explain and contain my excitement when I get a fresh understanding of God’s word. Someone said to me the other day, “I think this is your love language”. LOL! God’s word excites me and makes me happy.
The way God’s word has helped me in my lowest, highest, and in between, I highly recommend to you, my dear. Anyway, in my excitement, I took a look at the wedding in Cana again. The first thing I noticed was:
An Invitation was extended to Jesus Christ:
John Chapter 1 starts by telling us that on the third day, there was a wedding in Cana. I strongly believe that the mention of the third day and the wedding is symbolic of Jesus’ resurrection on the third day and the wedding may be symbolic of the marriage between Jesus and His Bride at the end of time. However, this is not my destination today. John 2:2 tells us that Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. Now, this in itself was the game-changer! There is no way you invite Jesus into your life, your marriage, your business, and so on that it remains the same. Once you invite Him, make Him comfortable, and give Him the access and freedom to do as it pleases the Lord- He makes everything beautiful. However, I doubt that this couple knew the might and strength of Jesus Christ, nonetheless an invitation was extended to Jesus Christ. This invitation saved the couple from mockery, shame, and bad memories from their wedding ceremony. Thanks to Jesus Christ at their wedding, a chaotic situation was averted, there was divine provision beyond their expectations.
This is what happens when we invite Jesus Christ to everything that concerns us! We just never know what lies ahead of us, we just never know what alternative plans the enemy may be strategizing but with Jesus in our boat- we can be rest assured of divine help and rescue. Jesus Christ doesn’t force Himself on anyone because we all have been given the willpower to make choices. He even tells us in His word that He stands at the door, knocking, if we hear His voice, invite Him in, He will come to dine with us – Revelation 3:20.
You see my dear friend, the ball is in your court, hand it over to Jesus Christ – let Him play for you. 🙂
