Communion: Learning to speak to God about the little things

Most of the times, I usually have my natural hair styled upwards to look like a pineapple and other times I have to section it into two in order to get a low bun. As much as I wish I could sleek my hair all the way backwards, I could not because the length my hair in front did not match the length of my hair at the back. My hair was longer at the back while it was shorter in front. This was the situation of my hair for about 5 years.

But sometime two weeks ago I realized I could sleek my hair all the way back into a low bun without sectioning into two. I did not realize the change immediately until the Holy spirit brought to my remembrance when I expressed my frustration to God about a month or two ago in front of my mirror.

If I remember correctly, that was about the first time I talked to God about my hair. In that space and time, I was not exactly happy with the way my hair looked. I am not exactly talented in styling hair in many different ways, so I just wished I could have the length I desired so i could just style in the easiest, simple way possible and move on with my life.

I remembered a conversation I had with my friend, Adaeze at her house in 2018. She told me about how she tells God to help make her hair beautiful and she attested to the fact that God always did so whenever she asked.

So that day in front of my mirror, I asked God to make my hair beautiful and He answered. I did not change my hair regime, there was no special oil to make my hair grow, it was just God in His power who made my hair grow. Now I can have my hair in a low bun all year round. I am super thankful

My hair testimony reiterates for me God’s interest in every single detail of our lives. He created us to have communion with us always.

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you

Genesis 3:8-9

Reading this verse makes me imagine that God went down to Eden every evening or perhaps morning and evening everyday to have communion, fellowship, conversations with Adam and Eve. This purpose for our creation – communion has not changed, it remains the same. God expects that we have communion with Him, He keeps trying to speak to us day in day out through sermons, through our Godly parents, Godly friends, teachers, blog posts, videos on our Instagram or twitter feed. Only if we spoke to Him about every single detail of our lives from the morning we wake to the night when we retire. He wants to hear it all and wants to tell us how He feels about us as well.

In this moment, I am reminded to speak to him about every tiny detail and not just certain things I think are important. Every detail about our lives matter to God.

Talk to Him right now, talk to Him everyday for the rest of your life. A relationship with Jesus is the best thing that can happen to any man here on earth, I promise you.

God help us all to keep talking to Him in Jesus name.
